Methodology for Developing a Database of Geometric Patterns to Better Support On-the-fly Map Generalization

چکیده
Cartographic generalization has been a research topic for more than thirty years. In spite of recent advances, a complete automation of this process still faces fundamental problems. Furthermore, recent needs such as web mapping and Spatial On-Line Analytical Processing (SOLAP) require geospatial data that are generated on-the-fly at any scale. This requires processing times and a degree of automation that today's automatic generalization algorithms cannot reach with all data types. This paper presents the concept of geometric patterns and explains how they can be built and stored in a pattern database for further use in a map generalization process. Geometric patterns are typical shapes that are representative of several occurrences of a cartographic object class. They support simple operations such as rotation, translation or stretch and allow adapting them to the exact geometry of individual objects.

Toward Self-Generalizing Objects and On-the-Fly Map Generalization
Map generalization is a complex task which requires sometimes human intervention. In order to support such a process on-the-fly, we propose a generalization approach based on Self-Generalizing Objects (SGOs) which encapsulate geometric patterns (forms common to several cartographic features), generalization algorithms, and spatial integrity constraints. During a database enrichment process, an ...
متن کاملOutlier Detection for Support Vector Machine using Minimum Covariance Determinant Estimator
The purpose of this paper is to identify the effective points on the performance of one of the important algorithm of data mining namely support vector machine. The final classification decision has been made based on the small portion of data called support vectors. So, existence of the atypical observations in the aforementioned points, will result in deviation from the correct decision. Thus...
متن کاملData sanitization in association rule mining based on impact factor
Data sanitization is a process that is used to promote the sharing of transactional databases among organizations and businesses, it alleviates concerns for individuals and organizations regarding the disclosure of sensitive patterns. It transforms the source database into a released database so that counterparts cannot discover the sensitive patterns and so data confidentiality is preserved ag...
متن کاملInvestigation of thermal behavior of traditional geometric patterns (khavoon chini) in the external hollow walls of Dezful double-walled walls in order to revive cultural identity
Abstract Traditional geometric patterns in architecture and decoration are rooted in the cultural identity of each region and in cities such as Dezful, they display its special cultural and identity characteristics. In Dezful, the geometric patterns of the bricks, known as the khavoon chini are one of the hallmarks of the citychr('39')s cultural identity. Due to the hot climate of Dezful, the ...
متن کاملBankruptcy Prediction: Dynamic Geometric Genetic Programming (DGGP) Approach
In this paper, a new Dynamic Geometric Genetic Programming (DGGP) technique is applied to empirical analysis of financial ratios and bankruptcy prediction. Financial ratios are indeed desirable for prediction of corporate bankruptcy and identification of firms’ impending failure for investors, creditors, borrowing firms, and governments. By the time, several methods have been attempted in...
